Risk, crisis and emergency communication is never only about an organisation. It is about how people understand risk, how communities are involved, and how organisations make decisions, communicate and work together before, during and after an emergency.

Yet preparedness still too often happens in isolation—from other organisations and from the people most affected.

I'm Philippe Borremans, an independent adviser in crisis, risk and emergency communication. I help organisations strengthen their preparedness, involve the people who may be affected, and develop the relationships needed to communicate and work together under pressure.
